Hello and welcome to Little Oak Therapies!

I’m Tamara, a Certified Play Therapist based in Bedfordshire, and founder of Little Oak Therapies.

I work using a child centred, non-directive approach in Play Therapy, and have extensive training and experience in trauma-informed practice. I have worked with children and families for 17+ years, and have specialised for the last 11 years in supporting those impacted by domestic abuse and trauma.

As a parent, I bring a wealth of experience and compassion to the support I provide to families. I am passionate about connecting families with the therapeutic process in order to enhance the opportunity for a child to heal and grow through their Play Therapy journey.

The meaning of Little Oak

‘Little Oak’ represents the journey from an acorn to an oak tree, symbolising resilience, growth and strength. The acorn falls and lands on the ground, and in the face of adversity, the sunshine, soil and rain help to nurture the acorn to grow and transform into the mighty oak tree. This transformation symbolises the process of Play Therapy; where a child has access to the right resources and support, they have the opportunity to thrive.

I have a passion for supporting and nurturing children and their families through their healing journey, as without holistic intervention where parents and carers are supported to navigate their own self, the child’s environment may not enable them to thrive. I offer a range of therapeutic services for children, parents & carers, and professionals that are working with vulnerable families, to offer a helping hand in building a secure foundation for growth and healing for all.

Where are we based?

Little Oak Therapies is based at The Bright Hub in Renhold, Bedford. Here we have a playroom that can be used for Play Therapy and other specialist support. Therapeutic Group Work takes place in schools, whilst additional specialist programmes of support are offered regularly at The Bright Hub in collaboration with Bright Emotions.

If you are unable to access The Bright Hub at the available times for 1:1 sessions, these can be offered at the child’s school if availability allows, of which details of costs can be provided at point of contact.
