Our Policies.

Confidentiality

Little Oak Therapies ensures that the highest level of confidentiality is kept at all times, according to the law and Code of Ethics held by PTUK (PTUK’s Code of Ethics can be found here). No information will be shared or provided to external parties, unless a formal request has been issued by the courts. In this instance, Little Oak Therapies would have to provide information and evidence as formally requested.

Any clinical information gathered by Little Oak Therapies during the time your child is known to our services will be used for monitoring and reviewing purposes only, as part of the therapist’s supervision. All clinical information is kept confidential, and no personal details that could identify you or your child are shared or used at all.

There are times where personal information may be shared with external agencies as a result of the following:

  • you or your child is considered to be at risk of serious harm. In this situation, further professional advice will be sought, and action may be taken by these agencies, as necessary, to keep your child safe. This also applies if the child discloses that they or another child/person may be at risk of significant harm. Any issues relating to the safeguarding of children whereby a child may be at risk of harm or neglect must be reported to the appropriate authorities as required by law (Children Act 1989). Little Oak Therapies would discuss any concerns and actions taken with the parent/carer of the child in question, unless by doing so put the child at further risk of harm.

  • illegal activities were taking place, and or any acts of terrorism were suspected. Such information would be disclosed to the Police immediately.

Please see the Little Oak Therapies ‘Confidentiality Policy’ for full information, which can be requested directly via email.

During therapeutic services provided, Little Oak Therapies may record brief notes about your child to ensure consistent and effective therapeutic work is being undertaken. Information that is recorded does not reveal any personal or personal sensitive data or information about your child that means they can be recognised by anybody else, and nor is this information shared with anyone else, unless for medical or legal reasons. All procedures and policies are in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Safeguarding Children

It is the responsibility of Little Oak Therapies to ensure that the safety and well-being of children and their families is the priority above all else, and is at the heart of all our work. As written above under the ‘Confidentiality’ section, there are times where action must be taken to safeguard children as and when concerns arise that give any practitioner at Little Oak Therapies reason to believe a child is at risk of significant harm. In such situations, information will be passed onto external services that may take action to protect the child from harm (as written in more detail above under ‘Confidentiality’).

Where therapeutic services take place within a school setting, Little Oak Therapies follows the safeguarding procedures of the school.

Please see the Little Oak Therapies ‘Safeguarding Children Policy’ for full information, which can be requested directly via email.
