I offer training sessions to small groups of up to 10 individuals seeking creative opportunities to build on their skills and experience in working with children, whether this be in schools, as a charity worker, or to learn something new!
I love to incorporate creativity as a way to support the learning of the adults I am working with, whether this be the use of clay and arts & crafts, or the use of symbolism within small world miniatures. Because of this, all training I provide is face-to-face within a venue that suits your needs, with a small group of like-minded adults that enable conversation, skill-sharing, and the chance to build connections with others in our field.
Training readily available to book as a group:
Understanding dysregulation, high sensitivity and trauma in children (6-hour training day).
Using creativity and meaningful play with children impacted by trauma (10-hour training across 2 days).
Bespoke training packages to suit your professional service can be developed to include topics of your choice below:
How children are impacted by trauma.
Domestic abuse and the impact on children and families.
How to work with and support highly sensitive children.
Understanding children experiencing dysregulation.
Understanding the meaning of play and creativity, and how to incorporate this into your work with children.
If you would like to know more about the training above, or have an idea for a training package that you would like me to provide, I would love to hear from you! Just contact me here.
Some lovely feedback from Little Oak training days…
“I felt I learned so much! I learnt a lot about myself and how I deal with situations as well as understanding more about how and why children behave in the way they do sometimes. The strategies for helping de-escalate children will be invaluable. I also learnt that I already do some of the things that were suggested which gave me encouragement that I am doing the right things with the children I work closely with. It was a really lovely day with a fantastic group of people. Tamara was so relatable, approachable and easy to listen to. Thank you Tamara!” - Pastoral Support Officer.
“Extremely well presented - Tamara has such great experience and knowledge to share. Very engaging.” - Student Social Worker.
“Really great training today, just the right amount of content and very interesting. It was engaging and it was nice to be able to talk freely in a safe space. I really enjoyed it and have taken away lots from it. I would recommend it to all working with children. Well done Tamara.” - Volunteer.
“It was just so good, got my thinking brain working more.” - Social Worker.
“The presentation slides are great, the trainer is very engaging, kind and respectful. I learnt new things, and I have attended many training sessions but this is definitely one of the best trainers I have had.” - Student Social Worker.
“I honestly think it was perfect. I feel that the information particularly about the brain and how we go into flight, fight, etc. would be useful for schools to be able to relate to some of their students. The activities were a really good visual again for staff to think about what their students might have faced on the day before they've even attempted getting into school in the morning. I absolutely loved your analogy of the brain as it is much more child focused than what I currently use. I also loved the window of tolerance, although I knew about it briefly you explained it so well and I feel much more confident talking about it to parents and schools now!” - Early Help Officer.
“Thank you so much for such a fun, informative and thought provoking two days. I feel motivated and my jar is full of good ideas ready to use. I look forward to seeing you again!” - Charity Worker.
“I learned a great deal from this training, particularly about how play can act as a symbolic form of communication for children. I now have a deeper understanding of how their play can reflect emotions, experiences, and needs that they may not yet have the words to express. I thoroughly enjoyed Tamara's training and it gave me a fresh perspective and new ideas.” - Children’s Support Worker.
“Tamara was an amazing teacher. I could have happily spent more time learning from her. She is full of wisdom, experience, and warmth, and she made the training genuinely enjoyable. Her teaching style was engaging, clear, and supportive, which helped me feel confident and inspired throughout the course.” - Support Co-ordinator.
